"Take off your veil.."

As many of you know I have been writing a few articles for El Comercio. I would say three fourths of the responses I get from readers have at least one comment hinting at my supposed adoration of the US of A. Those of you who know me must know very well that my feelings for teh US of A are much more complicated than that.

Nonetheless, I am repeatedly being told that I need to "take off the veil that the Yankees have put on me." This is supposed to mean that because I have studied here I must have gotten my Liberal (conservative in USA) ideas from my American college. WRONG!! SO WRONG!

This article from the Economist shows how big a myth that is...The myth that Americans have to put a veil on us foreigners for us to think that they have a better standard of living and more freedoms. I think I figured it out on my own once I got rid of American-college brainwashing...
